🧩 Adding mods to your Minecraft server#
Learn how to install individual mods on your Minecraft server hosted at LibraHost. With our built-in mod explorer, search and install mods directly from the panel, without manual downloads or uploads!
🎯 Objective#
- Use the built-in mod explorer
- Search and filter available mods
- Install mods with one click
- Manage dependencies between mods
- Remove installed mods
🧰 Prerequisites#
- A Minecraft server at LibraHost
- A mod loader installed (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge)
- Access to the management panel
⚠️ Important: Before installing mods, you must have a server with Forge, Fabric or NeoForge. Mods don't work on a Vanilla server.
1️⃣ Accessing the mod explorer#
🔹 Opening the mod manager#
- Log in to the LibraHost game panel
- Select your Minecraft server
- In the navigation bar, click on Mods
You will arrive at the Mod Manager with two tabs:
- Browse: Search and install new mods
- Installed: Manage already installed mods
🔹 Understanding the statistics#
At the top of the page, you see three pieces of information:
- Installed Mods: Number of mods currently on your server
- Available Mods: Total number of mods in the catalog
- Mod Loader: The currently filtered loader type
2️⃣ Searching for mods#
🔹 Using the search bar#
- In the Browse tab, type the name of the mod you're looking for
- Click Search or press Enter
🔹 Filtering results#
Use the filters to refine your search:
Minecraft Version: Select the version matching your server:
- 1.21.1, 1.21
- 1.20.6, 1.20.4, 1.20.1
- 1.19.4, 1.19.2
- 1.18.2, 1.16.5, 1.12.2
- etc.
Mod Loader: Filter according to your server's loader:
- All: Shows all mods
- Forge: Forge compatible mods
- Fabric: Fabric compatible mods
- NeoForge: NeoForge compatible mods
💡 Tip: Always select the correct mod loader to avoid installing mods incompatible with your server.
Sort results:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Popularity | Most recently downloaded mods |
| Downloads | Total number of downloads |
| Last Updated | Recently updated mods |
| Name | Alphabetical order |
🔹 Browsing results#
Mods are displayed as cards with:
- The mod logo
- The name and authors
- A summary of the description
- The download count
- The last update date
- Install and View on CurseForge buttons
🔹 Navigating between pages#
If your search returns many results, use the pagination at the bottom of the grid.
3️⃣ Installing a mod#
🔹 Quick method: Direct installation#
To quickly install a mod without viewing details:
- Find the desired mod in the grid
- Click the Install button on the card
The mod will be downloaded in its latest compatible version.

- Click the Install button on a mod
- A Mod Details window opens
- View the available files with:
- The version name

🔹 Managing dependencies#
Some mods require other mods to function. The manager displays:
Required dependencies (⚠️):
- These mods must be installed for the mod to work
- Click View to see dependency details
- Install them before or after the main mod
Optional dependencies (ℹ️):
- These mods add extra features but are not mandatory
- Check the ones you want to install
💡 Tip: Remember to install required dependencies like Fabric API (for Fabric) or GeckoLib (for some Forge mods) otherwise your server won't start.
🔹 Installation confirmation#
Once installation is complete:
- A success notification appears
- The mod is automatically downloaded to your server's
/modsfolder - The Installed Mods counter updates
4️⃣ Managing installed mods#
🔹 Accessing the Installed tab#
Click on the Installed tab to see all mods present on your server.
🔹 Searching among installed mods#
Use the search bar to find a specific mod among those installed.
🔹 Displayed information#
For each installed mod, you see:
- The file name (.jar)
- The file size
- The modification date
🔹 Removing a mod#
To remove a mod:
- Find the mod in the list
- Click the Delete button (trash icon)
- Confirm deletion in the dialog window
⚠️ Warning: Deletion is irreversible. The .jar file will be permanently deleted from the server.
5️⃣ Starting the server with mods#
🔹 Restarting the server#
After installing or removing mods:
- Go to the Console tab
- If the server is running, click Restart
- Otherwise, click Start

6️⃣ Syncing with players#
🔹 Client-side mods#
Some mods must be installed on players' computers for them to connect.
| Mod type | Required client-side? |
|---|---|
| New blocks/items | ✅ Yes |
| New creatures | ✅ Yes |
| Interface modifications | ✅ Yes |
| Server optimization (Lithium) | ❌ No |
| Admin commands | ❌ No |
🔹 Sharing the mod list#
To help your players connect:
- Note all installed mods (Installed tab)
- Share the list with exact versions
- Indicate the mod loader used (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge)
💡 Tip: Use a launcher like CurseForge App, Prism Launcher or ATLauncher to easily manage client-side mods.
🔧 Troubleshooting#
The mod doesn't appear in results#
- Check filters: Make sure the Minecraft version and mod loader match
- Exact name: Try the full mod name
- Availability: Some mods aren't on CurseForge
"Missing dependency" error at startup#
A required mod is missing:
- Check the console logs to identify the missing mod
- Return to the mod manager
- Install the missing dependency
Server crashes at startup#
- Incompatibility: Verify all mods are compatible with your Minecraft version
- Wrong loader: A Forge mod doesn't work on Fabric (and vice-versa)
- Dependencies: Verify all required dependencies are installed
- Java version: Make sure you're using the correct Java version
"Mod missing" when a player connects#
The player doesn't have the same mods:
- Verify the player has installed all mods client-side
- Compare mod versions (they must be identical)
- Check the mod loader (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge)
How to update a mod?#
- Delete the old version in the Installed tab
- Reinstall the new version from the Browse tab
- Restart the server
📋 Installation checklist#
Before validating your installation:
- Mod loader installed (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge)
- Correct Java version configured
- Mods compatible with server's Minecraft version
- All required dependencies installed
- Server restarted after installation
- Client mods shared with players
